Victory in Europe: 70 years later
We invite you and your students to celebrate a truly significant anniversary
Known as Victory in Europe (VE), early May remains a time of celebration and remembrance of the end of the Second World War when German troops unconditionally surrendered to the Allies.
In May 2015, thousands of Canadian teachers, students and veterans will travel through Europe as part of a series of VE 70 Tours commemorating the official VE 70th Anniversary and all those who fought for the freedom of millions.
Canadian students will join dignitaries and Dutch citizens at the official May 5th Liberation Day Ceremonies in Wageningen. They will pay tribute to the more than 42,000 Canadian soldiers who lost their lives in the Second World War, including 7,600 who fought to liberate the Netherlands.
This historic event promises to be an emotionally profound, once-in-a-lifetime experience that students—and teachers—will never forget.
