LEARN MORE

Welcome to CYAP

The Canadian Youth Ambassador Program is a transformative leadership opportunity that empowers youth to create change in their communities, our country, and the world.

Do you have an idea that will make a difference?

Applications open Thursday, September 28, 2017.

How can we inspire young people to make a difference?

Every year, EF is selecting 30 Youth Ambassadors to address issues they see affecting their communities that have significance at a national and global level. To help make their ideas for change a reality, they receive mentorship from an all-party team of Members of Parliament, Senators, and other community leaders.

In 2018, our Ambassadors will enjoy a trip to Ottawa to meet with their mentors, and take an unforgettable journey into the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador while staying in the Minga Lodge with Me to We. Plus, there’s no cost to participate.

EDUCATORS

By encouraging your children to apply for our program, you’re opening them up to a world of possibility! Once selected, Ambassadors come together as leaders of their respective communities to discuss their ideas for change, think critically about local and world issues, and connect with mentors in the public and private sectors.

They meet as a group twice during their ambassadorial year—with travel expenses provided by EF—once in Ottawa and once on a life-changing experience abroad. In 2018, they’ll be heading to Ecuador for an unforgettable journey into the Amazon rainforest.

The Ambassadors receive mentorship from an all-party team comprised of Members of Parliament, Senators, and other community and industry leaders. Led by our Parliamentary Advisory Chairs, they act as a support system for the Ambassadors and help make their ideas a reality.

During their year, the Ambassadors travel to Ottawa to meet and network at Parliament, giving their mentors the opportunity to connect on a deeper level with young people from their ridings. Ambassadors also connect with industry and community leaders for mentorship and guidance.

This program wouldn’t be possible without the support of educators in every province and territory across Canada. Together, we foster positive change in schools and communities—and by spreading awareness in their schools, teachers help make that happen.

Students who participate acquire confidence, develop greater global competencies, and can include their CYAP experience on post-secondary applications. Lifelong friendships with students from across our country, and a strong network of mentors and supporters will have a lasting effect on the rest of their lives.
